“Mission Viejo” — Lifter Puller

It’s sad the Twin Cities indie band Lifter Puller didn’t fully get the recognition it deserved while it was kicking, but we can at least be comforted in the fact that Craig Finn and bandmate Tad Kubler went on to form the Hold Steady out of Lifter Puller’s ashes.
Their albums are out of print but you can fortunately get them in mp3 format from online music sellers like Amazon instead of shelling out lots of cash on eBay.
With summer coming to an end and college students beginning the fall semester, this song seemed appropriate to post.
I’m on kind of a kick exploring the Lifter Puller catalog at the moment, so I wouldn’t be surprised if more posts follow soon.
And it wasn’t just the first time
It wasn’t just the last time
It was all those times that were in-between
When it was such a joy to ride with you
I didn’t mean to frighten you
I didn’t say goodbye to you
Summer was such bang-up fun
Didn’t mean to hurt no one
Just tried to enlighten you
When classes start I’ll quit, I’ve got until September 6th
When classes start I’ll quit, I’ve got until September 6th
When classes start I’ll quit, I’ve got until September 6th
When classes start I’ll quit this, this is just some summer slippage
